Sing & Sign sessions for schools

We can offer you and your setting inclusive singing workshops, teaching you and your children fun songs with simple signs.

Sessions include singing nursery rhymes and simple songs, accompanied by props, signs and symbols to aid early development of phonological awareness skills, speech, language and literacy skills. There is also a great deal of evidence to suggest that making music in the early and primary years increases listening and concentration skills. It has been shown that music has a positive impact on spatial reasoning and physical coordination which is linked to mathematical thinking. Additionally, if you give children the opportunity to perform, it can boost their confidence and self-esteem.

These sessions can include a signed story, again accompanied by key words, symbols and symbol sentences which can be used to support pre-reading and literacy skills, such as sequencing and tracking from left to right.

We firmly believe that music making in the Early Years and within primary schools is incredibly important. Children love to sing and we will have a great time with them developing multiple skills.
